Bedroom Curtains & Drapes
Looking to spruce up your bedroom? Bedroom curtains and drapes give your space a unique style that creates an inviting environment for you to sleep and relax in at the end of the day. Whether you’re looking for a light, sheer fabric or more luxurious velvet, we have just what you need to enhance the look of your bedroom. And if you're hoping to keep your room cool during the summertime, block out the sunlight, or absorb noise, then blackout curtains are the way to go. When it comes to decorating your living space, you’ll find the inspiration needed to get you started right here!
How to Measure Your Bedroom Window
To ensure accuracy, measure the width of the window in three places: the top, the middle, and the bottom. For outside mounts like curtains, consider how far you want the window treatment to extend. In addition to the width, determine how much overlap you want on each side. One important tip to keep in mind is that hardware generally adds two and a half inches to each side of the window.
After measuring the width, it's time to measure the height of the window. When hanging curtains, measure from either the bottom of the window or directly below it to the top of the window. Once you find the right length, mark how high you want your curtains to hang and round up both measurements to the nearest standard panel size.
Window Top Treatments
A top treatment is how a curtain fastens to the rod(s) above your window. Choose a top treatment that suits the formality of your space and the hardware you select.
Consists of metal openings at the top of each panel to create a crisp and contemporary look.
Rod Pocket Curtains
A built-in pocket at the top of each panel that slips onto the rod for a casual, gathered appearance.
Pinch Pleat Curtains
Although similar to a rod pocket curtain, this classic style slips directly onto the rod for a formal look.
Top Tab Curtains
Single loops of fabric at the top of each panel that is best for casual, relaxed rooms.
Loops of fabric on the backs of panels that create the illusion of floating and provide a clean, tailored appearance.
Choosing a Curtain Fabric & Color
Curtains are available in nearly every fabric type. From light and sheer to heavy and thick, there’s a style for every need or preference. Do you want the curtains to blend with your room’s decor? Would you prefer a look that pops? To blend your window treatments with your decor, choose curtains that are a few shades darker than your wall color. If you'd like to create contrast, pick a bold color that will complement your decorating scheme. Prints and patterns are another great option for creating a focal point - just make sure they don't clash with your furniture. If you own patterned couches, rugs or bedding, a solid curtain is your best bet.
